Everyday Life – A Life in Community
Our everyday life is more than a sequence of hours, tasks, and activities. It is a community that we all help to create.
There is room here to explore, create, concentrate, and wonder. We move between workshops, spaces, and conversations – from visual art and clay to light, music, books, research, and crafts. Some moments are filled with activity and energy, while others are characterised by deep thought, quietness, and presence.
There are no fixed expectations against which everything must be measured, and so there is room to find your own way. To make mistakes. To change your mind. To help one another. And to follow a question simply because it is interesting.
The spaces are different, but they have something in common: they are designed for people. A library for reflection. A workshop for working with your hands. A dark room for images. A dining hall for meals and togetherness. A living room for conversations. A hall that can change shape according to what is going to happen.
Here, we do not only learn academic and practical skills. We learn how to be together, how to listen, how to take responsibility, and how to remain curious about the world and about one another.
Everyday life is something we create together. And what comes from it is not only what we create – but also the community we create together.
Visual Art
Visual Art – Exploring, Investigating and Creating
In visual art, we work across disciplines and explore how ideas can take shape through form, colour, and structure. We draw, paint, shape, and carve, working with all kinds of materials and techniques.
Here, it is not only about learning how to draw or paint, but about looking, wondering, and experimenting. What happens when we change a shape? How can an idea take on new life through a material? And how can we see the world in different ways?
Interdisciplinary Workshops
New Directions Every Tuesday
Every Tuesday, a new visiting teacher brings fresh ideas, approaches, and artistic perspectives.
In the workshops, we work across artistic disciplines and bring different art forms together. Visual art, music, photography, ceramics, glass, film, and other creative practices can come together to create something unexpected.
The workshop is therefore a space where you can be a beginner, stay curious, and not know what the outcome will be. We work together, help one another, and draw inspiration from each other.
Every Tuesday, a new voice. A new direction. A new opportunity to create.
Culture and Environment
Community at the Heart of It
Community is at the heart of everything we do, and everyone has a part to play in making it work. We learn not only from our teachers, but also from one another – by sharing ideas, helping, listening, and being present.
There are no exams here, and no pressure to prove what you can do. In that sense, time at the folk high school offers a breathing space from the constant pursuit of results – an opportunity to be with others, to explore, to experiment, and simply to be curious.
We are interested in what happens between us: How does a community come into being? How do we create space for one another? And what happens when we dare to learn and create together?
